General aspects

Mobile lovers do demand a lot of features to mobile manufacturing company. This has to be qualified with better support from the manufacturer’s side. One such rare combination of style and feature is Samsung Memoir. Samsung Memoir presents the mobile user with rich blend of expert digital camera with comprehensive mobile phone duly built with loads of fascinating features. This mobile possesses HTML browser that tends to access various websites as supported by T-Mobile G1. T-Mobile G1 has some of branded features that tend to make the phone more attractive for the people. It has QWERTY keypad as just as Samsung Memoir. It lacks some features such as headset jack that enables disturbance free listening of songs or albums. Also it doesn’t possess stereo bluetooth that enables transfer of songs to the externally connected device.

Design specifications

There is much for the user to differentiate when it comes to the external design. Samsung Memoir has 2.6 inch screen with better intuitive navigation offered through TouchWiz technology. It has sleek model enabling better handling. The keypad can be operated either by stylus or even by hand. The sensors are so specific that they bring impeccable coordination. When the phone is placed horizontally, the display’s external orientation modifies itself to landscape from portrait form. This is regarded as unique advantage of the phone. T-Mobile G1 comes up with weird display and the overall weight of about 5.6 ounces. The phone closely resembles iPhone in the design but software platform differs based on the manufacturer. This mobile is compatible to operate on G1 with Google creating operating module named Google Android.

Handset features

Handset features greatly differentiate the two mobile models with greater proximity. Samsung Memoir has uniquely supportive stylus that tends to operate keypad with utmost precision. The mobile is compatible to create awesome pictures with Xenon flash lamp provided just beneath the camera. Also the amazing shutter speed enables flicker free and shake proof pictures taken even during the travel. T-Mobile G1 has been impeccably built with awesome construction of the keypad. It has 3.2 inches long screen with better picture display. Also the features like touch screen make it even better mobile. But comparing with Samsung Memoir it doesn’t have that much stuff to blow it off from the market with its internal and external features as provided by the manufacturer.

Performance and Market Acceptance

Performance of Samsung Memoir has been regarded superior when a comparison is made with T-Mobile G1. Samsung Memoir tends to provide data transfer through bluetooth at blistering pace with greater screening of networks present in a particular locality. The mobile costs can be matched up with the amount of added features established by the phone as such in the commercial market. Thus has also gained competitive edge over T-Mobile G1 in sales through the years.

Customer’s say

Customers prefer Samsung Memoir in comparison with T-Mobile G1 due to availability of improved features with greater technical aspects that are incorporated in the single handset. Also the added advantage to have better picture with clarity in display screen scores some more crucial points for Samsung Memoir.

General aspects

Samsung Memoir is yet another higher end model mobile with sleek design. The mobile is handy with inbuilt TouchWiz interface for easy exploitation of all the other features present in the mobile. The mobile performs exceedingly well at sharing photos at impeccable speed. The quality of photo clicked through this mobile is simply awesome. iPhone 3G has created lot of buzz before entering into the market which is then set back by immense competition in the marketing world. This is multimedia phone that offers the features to send and receive mails with utmost ease. Also it offers good quality pictures at the daylight. Comparing it with the iPhone 3G, Samsung Memoir has better navigation facilities with improved level of circuit architecture that enables better data transfer and huge technical back up. Also this can be hugely relied upon by the manufacturer’s operating system.

Design specifications

Samsung Memoir has some of the remarkable features in the camera. It comes up with branded 8 megapixel camera with remarkable pictures all the time. The phone is also supported with qualified options of pictography. It just imitates a general 8 mega pixel digital camera. Also the uncanny model design helps it to reach beyond the level of contentions. Also the external display ranges to be about 4.2 by 2.1 by 0.5 inches read as length by width by thickness. This elegant gadget tends to attract the mobile users who do have lot of interest in photography. iPhone 3G has a display of about 9.5 cm with touch screen. Mono speakers are provided at one side of the set enabling the loud sound to be heard when earpiece or headset is not used.

Handset features

Samsung Memoir provides the users with huge phone book memory reading to about 2000 in number. Better coordination in response to the touches made with very good throughput being attained. Display screen size ranges from about 320 by 240 to 3264 by 2448. Also the mobile is benefited with caller groups, video chat option. This can bring the people a lot closer. iPhone 3G possesses a multifunction press button situated just near to the microphone to activate the song tracks to be played or paused or even changes with the user’s interest. The overall memory of the handset depends on the internal storage capacity of mobile ranging from 4 GB to 8GB. The iPhone 3G doesn’t support any external memory.

Performance and Market Acceptance

Performance wise the two phones do enjoy a stiff competition. But Samsung Memoir seems to win the battle just by having slight edge over iPhone 3G. It provides great scope for faster download with better screen resolution. Ultimately this Samsung Memoir gives flicker free and light balanced pictures every time a photo is taken. It impresses people by providing sharp images even at twilight motivating the essence of professional photography. Better acceptance in market has boosted the sales of Samsung Memoir by large way when compared with iPhone 3G.

Customer’s say

Mobile users prefer Samsung Memoir in comparison with iPhone 3G due to availability of improved features with greater technical aspects that are incorporated in the single handset.

The iPhone is one of the greatest inventions of the twenty-first century. It has so many great applications, and one of the greatest is the iPhone casino. The iPhone casino allows you to play casino games for real money anywhere you go, at any time of the day or night, without even downloading any software. It is truly amazing.

There was once a time – and it wasn’t very long ago, even if it feels like ancient history – when, if you wanted to play casino games, you had to actually travel to a place like Las Vegas or Monte Carlo and stay in a hotel and play in an actual casino. Then, of course, the Internet revolution changed all that. With the Internet revolution came the online casino, and the online casino made it possible to play casino games just about everywhere in the world.

The online casino was, without a doubt, a big step in making casino games mobile. But still, it has its drawbacks. A computer, even a laptop computer, is a fairly bulky instrument. It’s hard to play casino games on your computer when you’re riding on a bus, for example, or when you’re sitting in the doctor’s waiting room. That’s where the mobile casino and the iPhone casino came in.

Your mobile phone or your iPhone are the most versatile gadgets imaginable. You can carry it in your pocket or you can carry it in your handbag. And while an ordinary mobile casino requires you to download the casino games to your mobile device, the advantage of the iPhone casino is that no download is necessary. With the iPhone casino you can, literally, play real money casino games any time, any place, with comfort and convenience. That’s the beauty of the iPhone casino.

Back in early February, Samsung revealed that it would bring its 8-megapixel camera phone, the Samsung Memoir, to T-Mobile by the end of the month, and the company has kept its promise.

The night before the official start of GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009, Samsung and T-Mobile held a joint press conference where they announced that the Samsung Memoir would be available starting February 25 for $249.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The event was marked by a special guest appearance by supermodel Helena Christensen, who was on hand to endorse the Samsung Memoir. Now, you might be wondering what’s the connection between a model and a camera phone, but Christensen also happens to be a photographer (who knew?) and was given the Memoir for a few days to use as her phone and camera throughout her travels in New York and Barcelona. Images that she took with the Memoir were then put on display at the event.

“As a photographer it was great for me to be the first to try the Samsung Memoir and to really experience everything it is capable of doing,” said Christensen. “It’s very important that my mobile phone also double up as a great camera, that way I always have my camera on hand to capture images at any moment. That’s what a big part of photography is about.”

The Samsung Memoir is T-Mobile’s second high-end camera phone, joining the 5-megapixel Motorola Zine ZN5. As we mentioned earlier, the Memoir features an 8-megapixel camera and also has a Xenon flash, CMOS auto focus, a 16x digital zoom, face and smile detection, geotagging, and more. Once done snapping photos, you’ll be able to upload photos directly to online sharing sites like Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket, and Snapfish.

Samsung Memoir also features Samsung’s TouchWiz interface as well as a full HTML Web browser, 3G support, assisted GPS, and an onscreen QWERTY keyboard. We got a few minutes of hands-on time, and the phone certainly impresses with good looks and a flashy user interface. It doesn’t seem to be the most intuitive though. The camera was quite good … as long as there was enough lighting. From the short time we had with the device, it didn’t do too well with low-light images. Of course, we’ll be giving the Samsung Memoir a full rundown when we get one in, which will hopefully be soon so stay tuned.

Samsung has a reputation for producing high-tech phones that are on the cutting edge of current trends. Their newest offering, the Samsung Memoir, is no different. This is a state-of-the-art phone that boasts the ability to replace your current full-sized digital camera. From what Samsung has said, it most definitely has enough features to do this, but until you can get your hands on it, it’s very hard to know, in reality, what you can expect. Is this really the futuristic device they say it is?

Is it going to be a phone that can make your coffee for you and set you up with super-models? Or would you be better off trying to make phone calls using a brick? There’s only one way to find out. We’ve had the very rare opportunity to take a look at this exceptional piece of equipment, and tell you guys exactly what to expect when it comes out. Read this review, and then make your own mind up.

The Samsung Memoir, also known as the SGH-t929, is only being released by T-Mobile. The price has not yet been released, but be expected to pay a good fortune if you don’t get it with a contract. T-Mobile is usually pretty good at discounting phones as long as you sign up for a 2-year service plan however, so as long as you like T-Mobile’s service, you should be able to get it at a decent price. Especially if it can replace your phone AND your digital camera, right?

If you don’t like T-Mobile, you can still purchase Samsung Memoir individually if you have a knack with unlocking these gadgets. It can usually be done in a few minutes with a computer and some basic software, or you can purchase one from a seller on eBay that is already unlocked, though they usually charge a more-than-reasonable fee to do so. Then again, the contract price will likely be so low you’d have to really love your current carrier to not get the discounted price. Unless you have prior bad luck with T-Mobile, or they don’t have good coverage in your part of the word, the best plan-of-attack is probably to just stick with them and get the phone at the cheaper rate.

Samsung Memoir is on sale by the end of Feburary, 2009, so if you’re reading this review after that date, the phone will already be available for you to purchase.

At first glance, Samsung Memoir does not disappoint. It might look a lot like any other phone out there, but it fits in with the current trend. The entire front screen is a touch-screen LCD, with three basic buttons at the bottom. One is a simple function key that can pull up menus, activate specific functions, etc., and the other two are the basic red / green dial / hang-up buttons that almost every cellphone has had since the day they were first invented. In summary, the looks are sleek and appealing, but it doesn’t look all that unique. It resembles every single phone that has been produced since the iPhone came out several years back, and if you want to look unique, you might want to look at a different phone–but there’s definitely nothing wrong with this one’s looks.

Of course, any phone that is marketed as being able to replace a full sized digital camera has got to have the specs to live up to its reputation. The 8-megapixel Samsung Memoir looks, at least at first glance, to be able to do so.

Samsung Memoir camera’s high resolution gets things off to a good start. 8-megapixles rivals the quality of some lower-end digital SLR cameras, that have been designed from the ground up to take professional print-ready pictures. One thing we were slightly let-down about was the lack of an optical zoom. While the camera does advertise up to 16x zoom, it is entirely digital, which is nice–but when the picture size output is 3456 by 2304 pixels, all it’s doing is cropping the image and lowering the resolution, which is something you can do in Photoshop yourself! We found that the digital zoom lacked quality, and each time you press the zoom-in button, the image looked cheaper and cheaper.

Samsung Memoir boasts a battery life that can support up to 5 and a half hours of straight talking before it needs to be recharged. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the chance to see if this is true, but we have no reason to believe they are making stuff up. The stand-by time is up to 300 hours before it needs a charge.

You’re guaranteed to have fast connectivity, since the Samsung Memoir supports 3G connectivity through T-mobile’s network. It also supports every GSM band in existence, so you will have no problem in that department. We were a little sad, however, to see that this phone doesn’t come with Wi-Fi connectivity. That would have pushed this phone over the top to being a small computing device, and not just a souped-up camera phone.

However, Samsung Memoir makes up for lacking Wi-Fi in other areas. This is one of those rare phones that actually comes with GPS! You don’t need an external device or any third-party workarounds to get GPS to work, since it functions straight out of the box. Bluetooth is another feature this phone has, so those space-man headsets will work just fine.

With its strong features and robust touch-screen, the Samsung Memoir is a strong competitor to the Apple iPhone, which seems to be the phone to beat in the present day. If you’re trying to decide between the two, we can’t really offer a lot of advice, since they are designed for two different audiences. However, if you love photography and want a killer camera phone, this is probably the one for you. If you prefer the mobile-computing power and Wi-Fi connectivity of the iPhone, then that’s got to be your best. Once pricing is released, we will know more about how they compare.
